Neil Young continues to surprise fans with new releases from his extensive musical archives, and his latest tease suggests an upcoming live album featuring Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.

On his Neil Young Archives website, Young hints at the forthcoming release of a previously undiscovered CSNY live recording from the analog era. Recorded shortly after Young joined the group, the album captures a performance at the Fillmore East in September 1969, showcasing the early days of their collaboration.

Reflecting on the historic show, Young recalls the band’s repertoire at the time, noting their limited material together before the release of their acclaimed 1970 album “Déjà Vu.” He describes a setlist filled with favorites from the self-titled CSN album, along with newer tracks that would later become classics, such as “Our House,” which was performed solely by its writer.

Young emphasizes the authenticity of the recordings, highlighting the soulful acoustic performances and the electrifying energy of the subsequent electric set. He underscores the decision to maintain an all-analog production, capturing the rawness and purity of the live experience, with plans to release the album as a double vinyl record.

While the album will be available digitally, Young stresses the significance of experiencing the music in analog format, emphasizing the tangible feeling it evokes.

In addition to his musical ventures, Young has been making headlines for his activism, recently speaking out against anti-trans legislation in Canada. He also made waves by returning his vast catalogue to Spotify after initially pulling it in protest of the platform’s association with Joe Rogan and his controversial podcast.

As fans eagerly await the release of the CSNY live album, Young’s dedication to preserving the essence of analog music continues to resonate with audiences worldwide.
